The Undocumented immigrant : Immigrants on TV

Image
Immigrants on TV I' m shocked, it's like telling a child, run back to where you came from even if it's hell, rub it on your body, fiercely, Now I know why a sea crashes against itself, some are running... "Iwa, why did you leave home?" greethier pastures? You need a paper to live, that's what is on the TV. -I am Jesunifemi

The state of the Northern child : the challenges in Northern Nigeria.

Image
The state of the Northern child In the northern region of Nigeria, Africa you can find numerous traders and nomads. A very prominent characteristic of the people in this region is that they are always on the move, migrating from one part to another (alimanjiri - migrants). Little wonder, they are one of the most populous cultures in Nigeria. Although they have many tribes, "fulani, hausa etc." Most people call them "aboki" which means " friend" in their culture but is used by other people stereotypically to mean "a gullible person". They are viewed as sincere, do not charge high prices for their services and are mostly involved in brown collar jobs. As of 2024, UNICEF confirmed that there were over 15 million out of school children in Northern Nigeria. This is undoubtedly pathetic, most of their wives and children are often seen on the streets begging for alms. There is an escalating state of chaos in their land, their homes are gettin...

Writing is a must, mustn't it? : Exploring the Importance of Writing in Today's World"

Image
WRITING IS A MUST, MUSTN'T IT? " art is to look at not to criticize"  -Edgar How do I write? Writing is a form of art focused on expression and not perfection as we assume.  I could write: "I fell" or "I stumbled" or"I suffered a painful tripping" all is the same and the diversity is what makes up writing. Whether I choose a poem, or tell you a story or I write a word, I have written and I am a writer. Writing is both an art and a craft, requiring creativity, skill, and patience. You have to be patient with yourself, to forgive your flutters, write yourself a letter, look beyond the magazines and write because you have to. I posit that it is a must for humanity to write. The newspaper tells you a story, you listen to music (written lyrics) you go to school, visit blogs, surf google for written documents. Even AI writes. Writing is a must, I insist. In colonial Africa, many villages and tribes were only discovered in the books writ...

Raynaud syndrome - Medical Condition. Raynaud phenomenon (know how to cope and help others.)

Image
The Raynaud's syndrome Raynaud's is a type of disorder in which the blood vessels become narrow or constricted. These narrow blood vessels reduce blood flow to a part of the body (usually fingers and toes) leading to numbness, and the affected part becomes white, blue or red. Oftentimes it shows up in arthritis, rheumatoid patients and people exposed to consistent vibrations and dangerous chemicals. It mostly affects women and causes pain and skin ulcers. People with this syndrome should avoid: Smoking:   Smoking or inhaling smoke tightens blood vessels. ... Stress . Patients should avoid stress and do more exercise to increase blood flow. ... Cold or rapidly changing temperatures . Patients should avoid cold and regulate temperatures by using socks, gloves and other warm wears. Vibrations:   Excessive vibrations stress blood vessels. Omega-3 found in fish oil has proven to be a good supplement that helps Raynaud's patients. Nevertheless it's very advisab...

Songs to the Ornaments that hurt our necks Child, learn not to wear earrings, lest you be pulled by them, Learn not to jump into the sea because it has water, and whatsoever you do, let it be your will, and be wise, good knowledge pampers goodwill, Do not wear waist beads and leg chains, they confuse your walk, you become wombly, Jingle, jingle behind bamboo hives, Run, child, when a man gives you a penny in exchange for the sun, Do not wear necklaces, They are for trapped dogs, Jingle, jingle behind bamboo hives. ~Jesunifemi (the ornaments mentioned in this poem are symbolic not literal) Download the Jekphrasa app Become a pro Communicator

STONE WALLS DO NOT A PRISON MAKE NOR IRON BARS A CAGE. (Tuck Everlasting) If you were to paint what a cage looks like, won't you draw solid silver bars? and describe it with words such as unbreakable     hard      strong.   tough.  tight.  . DUAL SERIES| FREE WILL AND DETERMINISM: A PHILOSOPHICAL DEBATE.

Image
FREE WILL AND DETERMINISM: A PHILOSOPHICAL DEBATE by Jimi B.E ( Inkfluencer ). In the realm of philosophy, a timeless debate rages on between free will and determinism about which path is truly right. Is our fate predetermined, or do we choose our way, behaviour and abilities? Let's delve into philosophers school of thoughts. Freewill is the power of choice, advocates argue that we have the power to choose, to make decisions that shape our lives, and determine our muse. Jean-Paul Sartre, an existentialist, proclaimed that we are free, "To choose our path, and create our destiny." Free will emphasizes that our choices are our own as John locke posits.  "We are not bound by external forces, but by our own will, alone." Although these scholars elude the biological and genetical factors that contribute to behavior which makes their argument defective. A subjective view states that free will has to do with moral responsibility as stated by Immanuel Kant,...

The Dual Series | Dawn and Night-time

Image
Dawn & Nighttime It's a circus, with no clowns here on the cliff of the moon, a potrait of black and silver hanging down the street lights, heavy black stockings on the shoulder, It is night, it is, night. A see-saw balancing across the first cock crow, see, the sun is coming, dawn! wood eating termites and moths scamper into home -holes, a canoe man stealing fishes - he capsides, they run, run, run from light. and night time must come, mustn't it? needn't it? It shall, Just like, "night" -and "light", the only two words in our earthly travelogue. Copyright © - Jesunifemi Olatunbosun Jekphrasa. Dual series with Sir Okiri Christopher Raphael

Image
THE FASCINATING WORLD OF DUALITY a composition by Sir Okiri Christopher Raphael. Imagine the intricate patterns on a butterfly's wings to the majestic beauty of the rose- it's as if the universe is constantly balancing opposing forces, with the two sided nature of things around us.  Everything seems to come in pairs -  The day and night, brightness and darkness, a smile and a year,  good and evil -we realize it's a fundamental aspect of nature found in every corner of our world. This phenomenon is known as duality, two, to everything there is an opposite. It constitutes the push and pull of opposing forces that creates harmony and balance. Think about it - without the darkness of night, we wouldn't appreciate the beauty of the stars and without cold we may never desire warmth.  Duality isn't just limited to our physical world. It's also a fundamental aspect of human nature. We have our own inner struggles, our own dualities, multiplicity, contrasts a...

Take a seat on a blue comfy chair in the left middle row, eyes focused on the feminine figure in the spotlight. She's speaking. Her tale is of a girl.   The scene changes, a simply quiet holo faced girl- unattractive with a cute attacking pose on the canoe, Legs crossed, a bait and fishing line in hand. In the water! the pond! with precious little fingerlings swimming innocently. Here, you are the fish and she's the (devil) sitting on a canoe and baiting you to come, come have a sit in the canoe. Sways her net left, watching and trailing you keenly with her eyes, you are the prize she came for. Her necklace bears a small golden inanimate fish. The sun crashes its reflection upon the swaying necklace on her thin neck. You and I know she isn't going to leave if you do not tell her to but you are silent. You swim down to the bottom of the shallow bond "you are not too deep to persist in your resistance" her voice whispers in your ears. You believe and swi...

Yellow

Image
I wish the earth was earth-a-yellow.  Yellow faces,  yellow hands, yellow thumbprints,  yellow sky,  yellow birds,  yellow guitars,  yellow windows,  yellow butterflies, yellow is the colour of a king's brimming hat, a clown's warning flag, the colour of a sweet tooth, and the colour of a leaf whispering goodbye to it's home.  ~ Jesunifemi

FEBRUARY | New month poem

FEBRUARY First day of the second month: ... Rain was going to come, there was water lined up in the sky, and brown leaves swirling in a ritual of fresh stalks, I hope, the birds hope, the parched ground hopes... Rain was going to come.
